Biography, Autobiography, Journal and AnecdotesPart II - AutobiographyFrance (again), 1914I was a little late for the congress in Paris, yet I got there in time for the last days and presented the music of India at the very end of their program. Professor Ecorcheville of the Sorbonne, who had organized the congress, was most interested in Eastern music. He suggested that some records should be taken and kept at the University. The German delegates to the congress were most taken with our music, and they invited me to go to Germany, but before I had made up my mind, the most disastrous war showed itself on the horizon, and we had to pack up and go to England. |
